They've sort of developed a routine with this whole escort plan while he took the time to simmer down or sulk. At least if he ever met the guy, someone would be there to step in if he started to feel like ripping his face off. He couldn't really know how he'd react to seeing him face to face till it happened, for as much as he was trying to make strides in quelling his anger, and for as, fairly normal most of his routine has been thus far.
It helped, in a way, for as much as he bucked against the idea at first, to have someone there. It was sort of nice to share in simple things like, going to lunch or having a walk about the main deck just to get out restless energy. He and Raylan would even jog together once in a while, a compromise so Flint wasn't interrupting Raylan's own daily routine. If it was a particularly hard day, they could stop and have a smoke together, a bad habit, but not one they did too frequently. They could even do that romantic thing of lighting one tip of a cigarette with the cherry of another.
This morning was no different, out for a stroll for the sake of a change of scenery or the placebo of perceived "fresh" air. An excuse just to spend almost domestically normal amounts of time together.

There was a lot to be said for getting to go on a run with him or stopping to smoke the odd cigarette, and plenty of discussion about how smoking wasn't as dangerous here as back home. They could almost pretend that they weren't on a space barge in the middle of no where. Like a dry run for Miami, if Raylan turned his head just the right way.

What was likely only about a week's time in an alternate universe had felt like a lifetime to them. A time gifted to them in the form of about a dozen years spent happily married and settled into their simple life together. An even longer span of time, working and surviving and building a deep friendship and love for one another between the shared tragedies and trauma before they were Married.
Happily married for 12 years.
And waking up next to Raylan only to realize it was a dream wasn't nearly as jarring as it could've been. Despite everything they'd been through prior to the Breach he woke up feeling more refreshed and content and hopeful than he'd been in a long time. Neither of them could know for sure if any of this would work, but they were willing to fight for it anyway. And now, having been given a glimpse of what it could be, of what they could accomplish together, it was a gift they desperately needed. A nugget of hope that this... this will work. They can be happy. He had been a different man, but he honestly felt hope that he could also become that different man again.

Raylan was sleeping well; the first few touches didn't wake him at all, but the brush of his hair at the temple was enough to rouse him with a soft hum. There was no eye cracking yet, just Raylan's arm reaching to encircle James and pull him in tight as he burrows in, inadvertently leaning into the kiss.

12 years. Double the time he spend married to Winona, and so much fucking happier. They'd been married. They had a life. They could have that again; Raylan's gut trusted the story they'd just lived, trusted that history, that life struggle, that success.

Yeah, there was space racing, there was chasing Fitz, there were all the coolest things to 14 year old, Sci-fi loving secret nerd who loved reading. But there was also an experience, a relationship that Vaughn would have murdered over the same way Raylan would. They had a life. A life to be proud of.

[Raylan has very purposefully not spoken up on Flint's post. Any conversation he was going to have with the man would be behind his own 4 walls. But he wasn't exactly pleased himself, for totally different reasons, and not eager to stick his head above the berm until he'd chewed it over.

Flint was returning from a stint in the Gym to work off some extra frustration after his post. He expected some bullshit from people, but he also expected some of them to actually consider the real potential his idea had. Instead most were too focused on the punishments he suggested. It left a bad taste in his mouth and he had to punch things.
So when he returns home he's sweaty and desperately wanting to get in the shower.

A big smelly kinda kettle of fish? [He supplied what sat unsaid in the 'ehh' and the ellipsis he'd heard. Raylan takes a deep breath, humming himself with a slight tightening of his lips, and it really didn't take much for them to whiten under the pressure and half disappear.]

He waits patiently as instructed, slowly moving different parts to feel his range of motion and all the aches he'll be feeling. He cracks his neck with a relieved sigh. His torso took most of the beating, but it'll be some bruised ribs at worst.
Once the coast was clear he'll make his way back home with Raylan, a little woozy and drunk off the adrenalin and pain. He's glad to cross the threshold and slump into the nearest chair though. His face is a mess, but nothing is broken, he'll have a bit of swelling over his bad eye, his lips split in two places, a bloody nose, and a cut on his brow. Raylan didn't hesitate in heading towards the kitchen once James was sat down, getting a small bowl of warm water, a few rags and a bottle of whiskey. He came and pulled the coffee table closer so he could perch on it again - it was a really good spot to sit! - and clear his hands. The bottle was handed to James, and the cloths were set to soak a little in the water.
"You fought well," he starts, wringing out one of the cloths and handing that over as well to let James wipe what he wanted to away. "Wouldn't've wanna bet on either of you, if I'm bein' honest. Could have gone either way."

Sweeney gives Raylan the rest of port without pestering; man deserves some time with his new husband. But back on board and back to work, it isn't long before their paths pass in the greenhouse. He strolls over to Raylan while the marshal is working.
"How's that wedded bliss treatin' ya?" he inquires casually, his hands tucked in his pockets. A tiny smirk curls one corner of his lips. His tone is playfully teasing, but it's clear he's supportive of Raylan being happier (or at least Sweeney assumes he is).

After the port, there was a renewed passion about getting into the dirt for Raylan; the deep smell of earth not something he realized he'd missed so sharply and with all the bugs and critters around, there were 'weeds' of a type, or plants that didn't belong that had to be pulled out. He looks up as Red comes closer, sitting back onto his heels as he grins at the question.
"Even better the second time around," he answers honestly. "I'm guessin' either words gotten around or you happened to catch sight of it while it was happening?" Or maybe Sweeney was just attentive enough to notice the new ring on Raylan's hands.

After a few glasses, when he's feeling more collected and warm, he'll head back to his shared Cabin. He comes home to Raylan busying himself with taking apart and cleaning his guns for the competition. He'll slip up behind him and wrap himself around his husband, pressing up against his back and dropping kisses on the nape of his neck or shoulder, wherever there is skin peeking out, while he works. He makes himself comfortable without getting in the other's way, and all his touches are warm affection, not sexually motivated. He's content to just watch over Raylan's shoulder as he meticulously and methodically handles the pieces, curious how the gun is disassembled or reassembled and cared for.

Raylan glances over his shoulder as he hears James coming in and greets him with a crooked smile and a "Hey," attention falling back down to the gun oil soaked cloth and bits in his hand. He hums a note of satisfaction as James wraps himself around and leans his weight back into the embrace. There's a chuckle as he kisses, Raylan's head tilting to the side to open the expanse of his neck.
"I was hopin' to have this done before you got back so I could air the place out a little. Hope you don't mind the smell of gun oil." Gun oil, a hint of cigarette smoke and whiskey is what he knew he smelled like, but all of that was usually fixed with a shower.

I saw Neal slip into Lestat's room a few days beforehand and then didn't see him again. Lestat was also bringing food back and last I checked, vampires don't need that. Didn't help that Lestat had been lingering in just about every space I saw Neal in before.

James came to with a groan, head splitting, and nausea settling in. He recognized the death toll, having experienced one not that long ago. His head is aching the worst it's ever felt and when he tries to pry his eyes open to see, the bright lights only make it worse, so he shuts them again and turns away. He's likely extremely dehydrated and would be hungry if his stomach wasn't doing somersaults and twisting itself in knots. The sterile smell of the infirmary wasn't helping.
At this point in his time spent on the Barge, Raylan had woken up from what he felt were some extensively different worlds, different people, different possibilities that he couldn't even begin to wrap his head around but this last one... The feeling of being gutted with grief stayed with him as he tries and fails to shake off the life of Mason Walker, feeding into the maw of guilt and self-hatred that Raylan had been dealing with in the week prior.
He knew where James must be, since he's not in their bed and, after a quick message to Roman, Raylan heads towards the infirmary, focused more on moving his feet one in front of the other than anything he was feeling. All that mattered was getting back to James's side and proving to himself all over again that the Captain was alive and whole. Alive and whole - they could get through anything else that came as long as they were both alive and whole and together.

Raylan, being unsure where he stood with Neal after the whole fiasco with Lestat, was smart enough to leave Neal alone now that the man had - reset? Lost his memory? The language might be different, but the general idea was the same; they were strangers again and Raylan had to be fine with it. It wasn't fair to Neal otherwise.
So he went about his business, his day and his routine, ending up in the lounge with a cloth over his shoulder as he went about washing some glasses. He didn't pay much mind to who was in the lounge, until the door opens again, and he lifts his eyebrows in something close to surprise as Neal sidles up to a barstool.
He blinks at the question, pulling the hand towel off his shoulders and into his wet mitts as he ambles closer.
"Somethin' like that, yeah. It uh.. didn't go as well as I woulda hoped. Still not sure how you got out of it all, if I'm bein' honest." His brow furrows. "So you're, what, startin' to remember?" The only other thing Raylan could think was that Neal had been told, but that seemed.. Unlikely.

Hey, man. Now that flood is done with, I'm thinking of putting together a Saturday night get-together in the Lounge, starting every other week and moving to weekly if we get enough interest.
I can set up, tear down and handle refreshments, but I might need help from you and Nick tending bar and tossing out anyone who tries to start a fight. What do you think?

[He was home - where else would he be? Too early for the lounge, too early to be drinking on Deck. Some Rules were slowly coming back up and frankly, that was a good thing. But Raylan sighs at the sound, scoffs at the statement and opens his door, looking quietly amused with a faint lift of his eyebrows.]
