[The fact that Malcolm could keep his barrel pointed where it belong bought him points. Raylan didn't fuck with loaded guns like that, even as gesturey as he knew he was.

Raylan turned to walk forward in time with Malcolm, humming a little note as he eyed the targets. He stopped another 7 yards out, putting them closer to 15.]

[Malcolm nodded, then it took him a second to figure out the positioning Raylan had taught him again before he raised the gun and fired at a couple of targets. He hit them both, but one was only just. He more winged it. He looked at Raylan.] That wasn't so good, huh?

Two outta three is nothing to sneeze at. Just means we don't go back further than this more than an extra yard or two and work on your aim from there.

Can I ask you something? I know you're trained and all but I also gather you're not overly fond of the idea of carrying. Why is that?

Well. I didn't mind carrying. I just... wasn't overly fond of pointing it at people. [He held up his free hand, the gun pointed at the ground again.] I'm not afraid to do it if I have to. I just... prefer to talk people into giving up theirs, rather than using mine. I haven't had one since I left DC and I don't miss it.

[Even he had a hard time quantifying how much the idea that he wasn't a killer - as opposed to his father - made up his identity in his own mind.]

But I'm also not usually the one making arrests. I just... facilitate the arrest.

[Raylan glanced at the ground for a moment before coming back up to look at Malcolm.]

I would say that 95% of the time, I'd rather talk people out of theirs but.. You've got a skill at that, Malcolm. One that I don't. I only draw to kill and people are obsessed enough with the wild west and cowboys and quickdraws.. I don't have much of a choice.

I don't take any pleasure in it. [For some reason, it was important that Malcolm know that. Raylan didn't enjoying having to shoot people dead.]

Of course you don't. You're not a sociopath.

[Matter of factly. The notion that it did never entered his mind. His eyes drifted down to Raylan's holster.]

Do people really try to challenge you to draw like it's the Old West?

[A beat passed before he answered, soaking in the validation Malcolm's faith gave him. ]

Everyone always thinks they can outdraw me. Or anyone. [The challenge wasn't about him, not really. No one coming to gun him down and gain notoriety.] Everyone wants to be Billy the Kid or Wyatt Earp. Miami made it worse. [Raylan was happy to rise to that challenge, but that didn't mean he didn't get tired of people trying.]

Quarles tried to outdraw me. [ Outdrawing him didn't always mean someone had a gun.] I'm tired of people I care about getting hurt because of my job.

A lot of people who are good at this job have that regret.

[He stepped closer, leaning in to give Raylan a brief but tender kiss, then offered him the gun back.] I'll have to keep practicing.

[ Raylan breathed Malcolm in deep, lips following his a little as he withdrew and while Raylan glanced down to take the gun, his eyes quickly came back up to Malcolm's. Another beat pass and Raylan was reaching out for Malcolm, sliding his hand along his jaw and drawing him in for another kiss.

Damn everything, Raylan couldn't argue that he was a little bit in love with Malcolm Bright.]

Gives us both something to work on...

Come into the barn with me. To hell with shooting. To hell with Bob. He can wait til tomrrow.

[Malcolm met that kiss with a soft hum against Raylan's mouth, his hands coming to rest around Raylan's ribs. After that kiss? Raylan could have taken him literally anywhere. Though he had a minor concern about Bob, even as he walked towards the barn.]

What if he comes back to the house looking for you?

He won't. People around here know that I'll move in my own time. Bob will assume that I got dragged into some exciting Marshal matter.

[ Raylan grabbed the duffle bag as he walked by, pulling and dropping the revolver into the bag so he could holster his service pistol back in its holster before pulling that from his belt and dropping it in the bag too. With a glance behind them, Raylan pulled one door and then the second, leaving it cracked. The duffle bag was dropped as Raylan turned his attention back onto Malcolm.]

Next time you come, I'm not going to waste time in not kissing you.

[That made butterflies rise in Malcolm's stomach. Had Raylan wanted to kiss him all this time? That was... exciting, for one thing. It made him feel slightly breathless already. It definitely called for a less chaste kiss than the first one he offered. He closed the distance between them, leaning up into him, his hand sliding up Raylan's shoulder and then up his neck, up into his hair as he pressed a decidedly more sensual kiss to his mouth.]

[Raylan had wanted to kiss him from the moment he'd walked in his door.

Malcolm kissing him was specifically what he had wanted, and he hummed a note as his arms slipped around the younger man, off hand reaching up to grab and toss his hat to the side as their kiss deepened. The need to have a surface behind them was overwhelming and Raylan moved forward, taking Malcolm with him until they hit a wall. Raylan wasn't sure what, exactly, they would do out here, but he didn't care as long he got to touch Malcolm.]

You're going to get dirty out here, [he breathed in the first break of their kiss for breath, faces kept close together as if to make up for the times they hadn't been this close.] And I missed you.

I can be...cleaned. [Murmured distractedly, his gaze lingering on Raylan's lips, but when he said he'd missed Malcolm, Malcolm lifted his gaze to Raylan's eyes, his face unabashedly lit up like a Christmas tree. Raylan missed him? He smiled broadly, the hand not in the hair just above the nape of his neck resting at his hip, squeezing slightly.]

I missed you, too. I think about you a lot.

[Raylan kissed him again, a little more tenderly and just for the sake of feeling Malcolm against him. He loved the hand in his hair and on his hip. Malcolm could play in his hair as much as he wanted at this point.]

I found your card in my pocket on the way home from my last trip.. 'I am the architect of my life; I build its foundation and choose its contents. [Raylan recited with a fond cadence, face curling as he looked over Malcolm's close features.] You sneak that in there while I was sleepin'?

[He returned the kiss with equal care, then smiled when Raylan mentioned the card, happily busted. He nodded.]

In between collecting breakfast and morning yoga. I... just wanted to make sure you remembered me, I guess. [He laughed.] I'm not sure whether I should say 'that was silly' or 'it worked!'

Both works, [He assured.] but there's not going to be any chance that I forget you. [Raylan glanced over Malcolm's features, lips pulling in a little smile.] I was hopin' you'd find a reason to come see me.

[Thus the jello cups. While he spoke, one hand slipped up under Malcolm's shirt.]

[When Raylan's hand slid under his shirt, the butterflies in Malcolm's stomach solidified into a hot coil of arounsal.]

I did take the first excuse. I wasn't sure if you... still wanted this but... I wanted to see you either way.

[The hand in Raylan's hair slid down his body to his waist and, with both hands he started pushing Raylan's undershirt up his ribs.]

I've thought about this almost [There was a faint hitch to his words as Malcolm started pushing his shirt up and Raylan's voice was a little huskier for it as he continued.] every night since I left New York. I wasn't sure if I wanted it til you came back. [The admission was easy with Malcolm - he felt.. safe enough against him to admit what he normally wouldn't. Winona would be jealous, if she knew.

The shirt was peeled off and dropped somewhere so that Raylan could get back to enjoying his hands under Malcolm's shirt, helping to peel that off too. He was already breathing a little on the heavy side, but Raylan paused the eager movement of his hands once Malcolm was pulled against him, dark eyes finding and holding his.]

But I do. Want this. [It wasn't something small to say, and he didn't say it lightly, but he did say it honestly. It felt like they both needed to hear it.]

[Malcolm held his gaze for a moment, the bare honesty of it. He wasn't stupid and he wasn't as shielded from the world as someone like him could be. He knew what sorts of beliefs would have been instilled in someone growing up here from a very early age and Raylan had already implied it as a stumbling block. Admitting he wanted this? Outloud? Malcolm understood how big of a deal that was. He slid his hand back up around the nape of Raylan's neck and pressed a tender but also passionate kiss to his mouth, leaning into him, his other hand sliding around his ribs to rest between his shoulder blades and he lingered there, wrapped around him, pressed close as the kiss broke and spoke softly but confidently.]

You're allowed to want this.

[Raylan's arms slipped tighter around Malcolm, left hand around his waist locking them together as his right spread across Malcolm's shoulder, fingertips dancing at the curve of his neck as they kissed. He'd never needed permission for this kind of thing before, but this was different from some dalliance with a girl.

Malcolm's reassurance made his heart skip a beat.]

I want you.

[Yes, they were half naked, fully hard and sweetly entangled but the sex was just a perk to it all. He didn't know how it would work, if it could work, if Malcolm was even interested in trying a more formalized relationship. They'd been talking about 'this' but Raylan wasn't inclined to hide much at this exact moment. Not with the way Malcolm always made him feel afterwards.]

[His heart was already beating fast from Raylan's attention, but that made him breathe a smile.]

You have me.

[He'd tried to be as casual as Raylan needed to be, but it had been a losing battle and he knew it was. 'Casual' wasn't slipping a souvenir into someone's pocket before they left. Raylan was undeniably attractive and he hadn't failed to notice that from the start, but by the time Raylan wrapped Malcolm up in his arms in bed, after seeing what he'd already seen from him in the night... Malcolm hadn't had a chance.]

[There was a need to seal that sentiment and Raylan did with a kiss that slowly deepend as his off hand moved down Malcolm's back and over his ass before coming around his hips to the button of Malcolm's still too crisp black jeans. No latches or confusing set up here - Raylan's fingers made quick work of the button and the zipper, eager to get his hand in and on Malcolm's hip, fingers gripping a little in his underwear.

Raylan planned on taking Malcolm home, cooking him fried chicken, and taking him to bed all over again.]

[Malcolm hummed a breath into the kiss as Raylan's hands worked their way inside his jeans, his shoulderblades still against the wall even as the rest of his body worked to stay as pressed against Raylan's as possible. His own hands slid down his body to find and fumble open Raylan's jeans, pushing them eagerly away from his hips. Skin. More skin.

He would happily be taken home after this. The quick job in the bar had sounded intriguing, but was quickly forgotten in the heat of their moment. Tomorrow, like Raylan said. That would be the time to think of something like that. At the moment, all he wanted was to get rid of Raylan's clothes and seal whatever sort of a deal they'd just come to.

Once fabric was pushed away from Raylan's hips, Malcolm's hand slid back up to his jaw, not willing to let that kiss break just yet, while his other hand found that hip again, now comfortably bare.]

[Raylan kept his weight forward to help keep them together and the flutter of heat that came with Malcolm's touch made his fingers impatient to push his underwear down so he could grab him and pull them together. The rub of their lengths against the velvet softness of their hips was just as intoxicating as Malcolm's kiss. Raylan's hand moved up Malcolm's sides as he kept their kiss just as hot and passionate.

When it broke, he was breathless and reaching between them to envelope and stroke Malcolm's length in a slow, relishing touch. He was hungry to hear and see that too sweet hitch in Malcolm's everything.]
