Audio; Early but not wee hours early, the day after the Will-Avalon incident

Raylan? Are you up?

[Late to bed, early to rise makes Raylan have a questionable sleep schedule. He picks up a few rings in.]

I am. Mornin'. I won't say good because no one calls at this hour with good news. What's goin' on?

[abrightboy]

Nothing. Everything. …I don’t… I just needed to… talk. To someone.

[tinstar]

[So he doesn't need to spring into fight or flight mode; that's something. Still, he frowns.]

Alright. I got a fresh cup of coffee and Willa's still asleep. I don't expect the latter to be changin'.

[Then, softer:] What's goin' on, Malcolm?

[abrightboy]

I’m sure you heard what happened with Kikimora. Did… did you hear what happened with Will yesterday?

[tinstar]

I didn't, no. [He hadn't so much as glanced at the network.]

[abrightboy]

A little while ago, Avalon stalked and tortured and assaulted Will. Yesterday, Will caught them following him again. They said they weren’t done with him and they intended on stabbing him again. Will killed them.

[tinstar]

.. Well shit. [Aside from Envy, it felt like this kind of thing hadn't happened in a while.]

Have you talked to their Warden? Do they even have a Warden?

[abrightboy]

I'm not Will's Warden, so I'm trying to let Shaw handle it. I already got in trouble for suggesting that being tortured and stabbed last time means Will knew Avalon was serious this time and explained his swift escalation to physical self defense this time as 'telling him he did nothing wrong'. She's sitting on him 24/7 like he was the aggressor. Avalon was the aggressor! I guess their Warden's name is Rawne. I'm trying to wait until Shaw brings Will over later to ask her what he said.

No, I- Yeah, Avlaon's Warden.

[He knew who Will's warden was.]

What'd Shaw do the last time Will was attacked by them?

I… I know, I’m just saying Shaw is super tetchy about her authority in Will related stuff. I guess last time he removed the telepathy and shape shifting powers they used to torture Will, but they still got access to weapons because they tried to stab John Doe on the space port.

[tinstar]

Will is allowed to defend himself like everyone else. But I were Shaw, I'd be raisin' a level of hell with Rawne to make sure something was gettin' done.

How's Will?

[abrightboy]

Shaken up. He feels like Avalon pushed him into losing control and that that’s what they wanted. But I don’t want him to wait until there’s a knife puncturing one of his lungs before he protects himself because otherwise his Warden thinks he’s a dangerous lunatic that needs 24 hour supervision. By her and only her. She’s not dropping him off to watch a movie later. She’s going to be here. Watching and listening.

Several, several hours later

[tinstar]

I don't know that I helped and I doubt I'll've done anythin' for Movie Night oversight but - I tried. Got a better understandin' of her side of the situation.

[Malcolm leans close enough that his face barely fits on the (cracked) screen. Raylan can't see it from his side, but on Malcolm's side he has a big bright line across his face.]

Oh my God, thank you. Thank for just... doing something. Thank you. How long do you think it'll be before she lets me stay with Will alone?

[tinstar]

[He can't stop the crook of a smile at how close Malcolm was to his camera, and tries to ignore the faint energy of manic that it brought with it.]

That, I can't say. We didn't talk about.. visitin' rights so specifically, just got an understandin' of the situation, each other, and why I'm stickin' my nose in in the first place. But she brought up a few things we should probably talk about. If you're serious about me steppin' in and tryin' to help.

[Raylan nods a little and sighs softly.]

Alright. You wanna do this over the phone then, or face to face, which is better for you?

[abrightboy]

[Malcolm bites his lip, then, after a second answers.]

On video is probably… safer.

[tinstar]

[He frowns a little at 'safer'.]'

Why safer?

I’m not doing really great today.

[tinstar]

You're gonna have to work a lot harder to make me wary of you when you're not doin' well but- [He takes and lets another breath.] If that's how you wanna do it..

I know you love Will. But you agree that he's an inmate for a reason, right?

[abrightboy]

[Malcolm looks at him oddly.]

Yes. He was... conditioned and abused into going dark, back in his world. ...Why?

[tinstar]

And while we both understand why he snapped and killed Avalon, that murder still isn't somethin' that can be just brushed under the rug? All the reasons he snapped are things to work on, correct?

[abrightboy]

I said Avalon and Avalon's Warden were more to blame. Not that Will is blameless. I said considering that Avalon tortured him and stabbed him before, he had no reason not to believe they'd do it again when they said they intended to. I said it was understandable, not that it was okay.
