"...Oh. Okay," he said uncertainly, though more in the way that he didn't know what to make of it rather than having any undue suspicions. He'd never thought anything of the bruise on Raylan's thigh; the ladder collapsed in the tunnel, he assumed there was a fall. Even the mark on his collarbone could have just been friction burn or something else innocuous. The bite mark was... confusing. But he didn't push it. Raylan was holding him close and it was warm and this hadn't been a one time thing and Raylan was alive and he just wanted to stay there and enjoy it.
"If the weather keeps getting warmer, I'm going to start opening the window at night. Let the breeze in."
It felt like a trap but Raylan was a little relieved - he could still keep this for one more night, nothing was blowing up, his carelessness in need wasn't kicking him in the teeth just yet. The bruise on his hip was easily explained by the tunnels, that was a small lie of omission, not bothering to correct any thought, but this slip, however more honest, didn't feel any better.
Greedy bastard that he was.
Raylan didn't elaborate, thumb brushing back and forth over Malcolm's hand as he took a settling breath. "I'm lookin' forward to spring and summer. It won't be much but it'll be something. New Air. New willow trees too maybe. We can stock up for you."
Malcolm smiled at that thought. They did work hard to try to make him comfortable with the limited resources they had.
“Did you say you’re staying with me tom...” he paused. “It’s probably ‘tonight’ at this point, huh?” he said with a laugh. “Well. Whatever the next sleeping time is.” He leaned up, pressing a kiss to Raylan’s jaw and to his collarbone before laying his head back down on his shoulder.
Whatever they could do and spring didn't come around all the time. Raylan was very comfortable with the idea of being connected to the land, to the seasons. That was in his blood and one of the few things that he was proud of being there.
Raylan smirked. "I suppose 'tonight' is right, but I like tomorrow night. Like we might get some sleep between now and then." Though this had to be the best way to deal with a nightmare - 10/10, would recommend. He hummed shortly, hand running up and down Malcolm's shoulder.
"Unless they insist, yeah. If they insist, they got a reason that I'm better off minding. You're a calmin' presence, belonging here and all." Which was to say, they didn't see his oddities as burdens. He wasn't a burden.
Malcolm's smile was utterly charmed and he set his head back down on Raylan's shoulder, snuggling back up against him, dopey, happy smile still on his face, fingers fidgeting at his sternum.
"Do you think you can sleep some more?"
He should sleep some more, if he could bear to. Malcolm would look after him this time. "You might wake up to breakfast," he added, to sweeten the deal. "Doc made grits when you were gone but the food is back so we can have eggs."
"Mmm," he rumbled, smile staying lazily broad as his thumb brushed back and forth over Malcolm's shoulder. "That kinda attention makes it hard to say no."
Typical man. Ready to roll over and go to sleep only to wake up and eat until he's sated again. He wasn't ignorant to the raw luxury that was for them here but that only made him want to soak in it more.
"Throw toast in there and I won't have a choice. Especially if you're gonna stay for a little longer."
"I love some toast." Just in case that was still a question.
The smile cheeked into a broader one as he rolled into Malcolm again, off arm coming around so that he could lean in and kiss him with a soft hum. "Then lets get up on the bed properly. Maybe up under a blanket or somethin' so we can snuggle in. Though, I warn you, let me get too far under, you might find it hard to slip away."
Malcolm laughed almost self-consciously, reaching for Raylan as he tucked up against him.
“Really?” A few weeks ago he would have never thought... well, anyone would say that, really. But especially Raylan. “Then you should do it some more,” he suggested.
"Mm, happily so," Raylan hummed, a chuckle behind the words as he bent in to do just that. It would take him a few more long seconds of that before he settled his head down onto the pillow and sighed a deep, rare sigh of contentment.

"I'm calming?"
Literally nobody had ever called him that before.
"Like.... you feel calmer now because of me?"
He sure never felt calm. He felt like he was full of bees all the time.

"You bein' here is right, somehow. I would be less calm without you here. If that makes sense."

He looked up at Raylan's face. "I can't leave yet. It's warm and you want me here."
And he was alive. And he was smiling.
"Plus the sun hasn't come up."

"Am I in danger of being pinned?" he asked suggestively. "Is 'oh no' the appropriate response? I'm not feeling that," he teased.
no subject
"Only if you ask nicely.. Or even if you don't. I do like kissin' you."

No, this wasn't so bad at all.
