[Raylan opted to stay silent until Kendall was done. He seems like the kind of man that might react to silence, to fill it unnecessarily.]
At least that's more clear than tryin' to guess board positions. Sounds like y'all might be better off not workin' for your daddy but if that was something that you were gonna do, at y'alls age, you woulda done it already.
This all a dedication to the business itself or to your daddy's ideas of passin' it down to his Heir?
[He doubted they really cared about the business itself; it was too broad for someone to really be passionate about, but he wasn't ruling out the possibility.]
I believe in it. I think there's space for innovation in the sectors we're working with, we just need to modernise and restructure and cut out the shit that's weighing us down. [ That comes out practically rehearsed. ] But I don't know what Roman thinks. I think he's smart enough to make it work if he takes shit seriously, but I dunno how much he wants to do the... the grunt work, right? He's more into shortcutting by being dad's favourite. And then competency and passion and learning how to actually do the shit he'd be expected to do can come later, I guess.
Real shame there isn't a tv station or a paper for y'all to run here. Though - I dunno, a monthly paper ain't a terrible idea if printin' it wouldn't be such a pain in the ass.
[He wasn't being sarcastic.]
I'll be workin' with him about gettin' a job around here. Somethin' to break him into the idea of actual laborin'. He's gonna hate everything I suggest on principal, but I'd like to put him in somethin' where he's not, say, accidently tryin' to burn down the kitchens. Cookin' isn't a skill I'd guess him havin'.
[ Kendall can't help the slightly disbelieving tone of voice there – it's just weird to think that after all this innovation, after GoJo and Vaulter and trying to move past the dying industries of print and television journalism, there's a guy here telling him he should start a newspaper. But he files the idea away anyway, just in case, and presses out an amused snort as he turns his thoughts to the idea of Roman doing any kind of labor. ]

Yeah, he's not gonna like that at all.

[Raylan was not aware of movies being made on iPhones but it was better than nothing. Work with the situation you had, right?]
That's fine. Almost half the point, honestly. I'm sure you'll hear about whatever I end up stickin' him with.
